How it works
From .max to SketchUp. No export step.

Add your folder
Point Oruva at the folder that holds your .max files and their preview pictures. It connects each picture to its model.

Send to SketchUp
Right-click the picture, choose Send to, SketchUp, then V-Ray, Thea or Enscape. If textures are missing, Oruva lists them before sending.

Keep working
The model arrives in your open SketchUp scene with its materials rebuilt. Anything that couldn’t be matched exactly is listed in a report.

- Files saved in 3ds Max 2009 through 2027
- Geometry, object names and hierarchy
- Materials rebuilt for V-Ray, Thea or Enscape, with maps reconnected
- Textures found by filename next to the .max, in nearby maps folders, or in a folder you add once
- TurboSmooth, MeshSmooth, Shell, Edit Poly, UVW Map, Bend and Twist applied, with smoothing baked into the mesh
- Renderable splines, including Sweep
- V-Ray proxies, as regular geometry when the proxy file comes with the model
Good to know
- SketchUp 2024–2026 on Windows. The renderer has to be installed in SketchUp.
- Forest Pack, RailClone and Corona proxies aren’t supported yet.
- Symmetry, Mirror, Chamfer and some other modifiers aren’t applied. Oruva uses the base mesh and warns you.
- Renders won’t always match 1:1. When a renderer can’t express something exactly, the report says so.

Before you download
Do I need 3ds Max installed?
No. Oruva reads .max files on its own.
Does it work with 3dsky models?
Yes. Oruva reads .max files from 3ds Max 2009 through 2027. Convert files you own or are licensed to use.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion runs on your computer. Your account is used for the license check only.
Which SketchUp versions and renderers?
SketchUp 2024, 2025 and 2026 on Windows, with V-Ray, Thea or Enscape 4.19 and later. Oruva only offers renderers your SketchUp can load.
Does it work on a Mac?
Not yet. Oruva for Mac is coming, and SketchUp as a destination is Windows-only for now.
What does the free trial include?
14 days and 10 conversions, with no credit card. An account is required. AI scene building with ChatGPT or Claude comes with a paid license.
What does it cost?
